Summary
When Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 is installed on to a machine, this service pack installs and enables by default the Windows firewall. The Windows Firewall in its default configuration will block all Network activity produced by CrossTec SchoolVue. In order for CrossTec SchoolVue to function correctly on a machine that has the Windows Firewall enabled, the Windows Firewall Configuration must be modified.

CrossTec have provided a utility that will configure the Windows Firewall to allow CrossTec SchoolVue to function correctly. To use this utility follow the instructions below
To enable CrossTec SchoolVue in the Windows Firewall Configuration 1. Download the ICFCONFIG.EXE File (link at the bottom of this page) 2. Run this utility on a machine with CrossTec SchoolVue Installed using the following command ICFCONFIG -e NSS 3. This will create all the required entries in the Windows Firewall Configuration to allow CrossTec SchoolVue to function correctly.
The ICFCONFIG utility can also be used to remove a CrossTec Product from the Windows Firewall Configuration see below for all the ICFCONFIG Command line options
Full Syntax for the ICFCONFIG utility
icfconfig [options] PRODUCT
options: -e enable product in Windows Firewall -d disable product in Windows Firewall -r remove product from Windows Firewall
PRODUCT can be NSM, NSS, EMS or ALL NSM - CrossTec Remote Control NSS - CrossTec SchoolVue DNA - CrossTec EMS ALL - Configures for all Installed CrossTec Products
Note: The CrossTec Deploy Application uses Microsoft File and Print Sharing to Remotely install CrossTec SchoolVue. If you need to use CrossTec Deploy to deploy to a machine that has the Windows Firewall Enabled you must enable File and Print Sharing in the Windows Firewall Configuration.
